Hypertension is a risk factor and a complication of CKD
Risk factors of CKD
- Age, sex, race (blacks), smoking, hypercholesterolemia, duration of hypertension, low birth weight, and preexisting renal injury
- Malignant hypertension
  - Scleroderma, cocaine
  - Fibrinoid necrosis of small blood vessels (arterioles and glomeruli), thrombotic microangiography, aGN, ARF
- Hypertensive emergency
  - Renal failure, chest pain, papilledema
Treatment
- Keep BP<130/80 mmHg
- ACEI or ARB
- Diuretics
